The Tower Of Resilience

Tower of Resilience is an interactive installation and tabletop game created for my senior capstone exhibition at the University of Minnesota. The project explores the intersection of mental health, housing instability, discrimination, and substance use within the LGBTQIA+ community through a format that invites conversation, connection, and collective reflection.

I designed every element of the experience: the visual identity, game mechanics, printed components, video walkthrough, and installation materials. The game itself uses a 64-block tower, a shuffled deck of illustrated cards, and real-world statistics to simulate the instability many LGBTQIA+ individuals face in daily life. It’s part tactile sculpture, part research-based storytelling, and part emotional check-in. Everything was designed with simplicity, honesty, and accessibility in mind because this is about more than gameplay. It’s about empathy and awareness. And it’s one of the most personal projects I’ve made.
